Code Geass

October 4, 2008

I finished watching this serie yesterday…and what should I say?
It was surely one of the best I have seen, but for the moment I feel in no shape to really explain about that. When I finish watching something, at least yesterday, it felt kinda like a black hole developed inside of me, sucking in all kinds of feelings from the serie: Expectation, love, hope and the yearning.
Of course, many feelings still remains right now, such as anger and grief, but I let  a lot of that out yesterday. Lol, Can’t really believe that I screamed like that.

Anyway, I guess I will get down to the main thing right now, about the serie.  I won’t focus that much on the first season but rather about R2.
( But in the end I wrote alot more than I was meant to do,lol)

Plot:
In the serie we follow Lelouch,a former prince of the world dominating country Brittania. He lives together with his blind and handicapped little sister, Nunnaly, under the protection of Ashford school. One day he gets catched up with a terrorist groups plan to get an atombomb. But instead of a bomb, it shows out to be a mystical immortal woman called C.C .  When the brittania army, who many years ago took over Japan and made it into “Area 11” , are about to kill Lelouch, he makes a contract with C.C and gets the power of a “Geass”. With this new power, Lelouch can finally get his revenge on Brittania and create a peaceful world for him and Nunnaly.
He gets controll over the terroist group from before and starts his revenge, but he soon gets to feel the power of the enemy, which the most troublesome prooves out to be his childhood friend, a japanese, called Suzaku.

I won’t go into what happens to much in R2 ( even though that was what I said befire, lol) It would be to complicated. But I still want’s to share a couple of pictures of new and old characters, and also some art pictures.^^

Perhaps I will put up some more some other time lol. Becuase now I got to catched up in putting up images that I fully forgot to write something, lol. So…well, I will jsut end it liek this I guess:

Code Geass is a serie that everyone into anime should definetly watch. It gets 10/10

Otana ni nuts

September 22, 2008

I thought that I should just continue reviewing a couple of manga, at least the unusual ones. Here come another one that I started to read again( read two chapter before ) and finished reading almost right away.
It is called Otona ni Nuts = Instant teen.

The story is about Natsumi who wants to hurry and grow up to become a sexy teenager, and faster than she could dream of, she actually becomes one right away. The secret lies in the special nuts she got that changes her body. This makes it possible for her to meet with the hairstylist she has been watching along time.
Even though the pattern can already clearly be seen, I don’t think it is any surprise that this is a typical Shojo comic, where the Heroine stumbles upon small problems that makes her cry right away, but also quickly gets comforted by the ever next Hero, which in this case is her childhood friend Asuma.

Like with Far Away, I don’t feel the need to hide the fact of who she will fall in love with,or rather end up with, since it is obvious from the start. Right from the start you will see that Asuma is in love with Natsumi ,like most “we are just childhood friends, how could we love each other” comic.

At some points, I got really irritated with the manga style, since not everything felt purely detailed.
The best pictures were mostly of the older Natsumi. And towards the end, I got irritated at the story for not using the option that I was looking forward all the time:

Spoiler:
Atsuma never got to turn into an older version, which was a big disappointment. He did use some other nuts, which made him switch body with Natsumi. It would have been great to see his grown-up version 😦
Anyway, for you who seeks a really lame shojo manga, with just a little spice, I guess this is the right story.
I haven’t done this before, but if I would give this manga a grading, it would probably be something like : 2/10

From Far Away

September 13, 2008

As I said Earlier, I will tell about a manga I just finished reading, From Far Away.
The manga started at the end of 1992 and vintaged to 2003.
It was published in LaLa by Hikawa Kyouko, who at the moment has
another serie running in LaLa called Otogimoyou Ayanishiki.

From Far Away is about a girl called Noriko Takichi, living an ordinary life in Japan, but after an explosion by some terrorist, she gets blown into another world. There she meets Izark, a beautiful young warrior, who helps her. What she doesn’t know is that Izark is in fact cursed by a legend said to destroy the world, and that the one who will awaken this side of him is the “Awakening”coming from another world,  which would be Noriko. But seeing that the Awakening is just a little girl, Izark takes her with him.Noriko doesn’t know anything of this, as the first problem she stumbles across is an language barrier.
After that they stumble across different adventures and meet new friends and enemys, as their feelings for each other develops and as their destiny becomes clearer.

The story’s feeling is kinda similar to Fushigi Yuugi, with the “girl from another world” way.  And izark is kinda like a Tamahome, except his funny ways and money addiction, lol,  always taking care of Noriko.

In Fushigi Yuugi, except Tamahome, all of the other guys in it are also beautiful. In From far Away, except Izark and some other, the rest is kinda…ugly, lol. Since I’m a person that easily grows attached to a nearby side character, but to not really have that in this comic was an experience.
I think that is a  reason for me instead clinging to the main character and their love ( I don’t think I’m spoiling anything with saying this, since it is obvious that they will fall in love with each other)  and I’m usually someone who is against cliche loves, but in this manga I enjoyed it a lot, just because their love was very nice.

Even though I had expected more from this manga, it was still pretty good, awakening my desire to continue with my own fantasy manga^^. It is a great inspiration source, or just something easy read for the manga, shojo and fantasy lover. If you are still pretty new with manga, or don’t really like this genre, I guess you should wait to read it,lol. But it is worth to at least check it out :3
If you wonder about the blond gut to the right, that is kinda the only picture he looks good in,lol. He becomes too obsessed with fighting and his expression always ends up looking mad -.- ( I had some hope for him in the beginning, but that hope died pretty fast, lol.),

I had one favorite guy who really looked like a Bishounen. That was Irk, very cute and wise^^
Unfortunately, he was just a spirit-.-  but still, the part where he came was one of my favorites in the manga. The story about him was beautiful and unusual – don’t think I have read one like that  before.

Anyway, I guess I have said what I can say about this serie, lol. If you have any further question about it, feel free to ask^^

Manga

September 12, 2008

I’m on a roll right now, lol, so I was thinking of summarise this week a bit now. Even though I have mostly been to school and also taking it easy with my upcoming cold, but yesterday I made some purchase that still makes me excited to look at ^,^

As I said, I haven’t been up to too much this week, but I can still tell alittle bit about what we did at school. We have been studying more grammar and expression, practiced writing katakana while watching Hisayo-sensei, while she drew calligraphy. We have been practicing speaking with a headset, and because I was early for the lesson, I could watch some children show on NHK,lol. It was so funny, dancing and singing with a lot of little children running around, or just standing still clueless of the situation.
Later that same day, thursday, we had a lecture about japanese society today.
It was mostly basics, and I hope we will have another one.
Today, in  some hours I will have another lecture about japanese art in english. i hope it will go well ^^’

Anyway, now to the main thing: The manga I bought yesterday^^.
I still haven’t fully looked through them all, trying to restrain myself and save some of it for later.

Not much to say about it,lol. Just see for yourself ^.^
I also got a mobile string from LaLa with Nyanko-sensei from Natsume Yuujincho,
and a nice bag from Hana to Yume:3

Anyway, thats all for now. I will try to make some more reviews of some manga or anime. I have been thinking of writing about From Far Away, since it is an unusally manga and i will also probably finish it tonight.
I will end this with a picture of how the magazines look next to each other. This is my new room project aswell, lol = My new Magazine shelf, since the other one is full. I wil probably make it all shojo, so I will put down the rest of my LaLa’s and Hana to Yume aswell + some others, lol ^^

2nd week

September 12, 2008

( This was something I was supposed to have posted last week, but I forgot about it XD *hehe* sorry )

I’m finally starting to get used to the life of a university student and it is though -.-
The thing that still takes away all my energy is the pendling, especially now that we are going to take an even earlier train at 6.15. But a good thing is that I noticed that it was ok for me to read on the train and the PENDELTÅG, something I haven’t been able to do before ( gets motionsickness easy )   We had to read a book to page 178 this week for friday, so I could read it during this time, saved me home studying times= more time to sit by the pc ;p
This week we have been starting with hiragana, which was no problem until I noticed that I have been writing some kinda wrong ( such as naーな and waーわ)
Also, my handwriting needs to be practiced, lol, mine is pretty awful -.-

The View is really wonderful and even though it was blowing cold winds, we decided to eat our breakfust outside after our first lesson ^^
I decided then that someday I will find my way over to that island and just relax there.
Though, It is already very cold outside, so it will have to wait for summer^^

This is also one of mty favorite spots: The library (atleast one of them)
Whenever I have dinner with me, I usually eat it there, or breakfust/luch aswell, lol ^.^

Devil & Devil

August 29, 2008

I had never heard of this manga before I started to read it, and I found it much better than I thought it would be, even though it has elements of a typical action serie,  the story evolves much more.
When I mean typical serie, I mean the standard routines of a Hero that fights evil, has friends by his side and a heroine to protect, this patterns can for example be seen in Flame of Recca.
Or it is always the same fighting pattern against evil: Gather and fight, struggle through and collect your power and defeat the last boss.
Anyway, as I said, Devil & Devil has these elements, but the most intriguing is to see how the relationship between Sword (the devil)and Ios (the angel)

The story starts with the war between Angels and Demons, where the most brutal demon, Sword is about to engage himself with his 101st battle with the the Angel Ios.  They manage to damage each other so much that they both fall down to the human world. Swords body is at its limits, but luckily he find a human host, Souma, which he transfer es his soul too. The same goes for Ios, who transfer es his soul to Kanna, Soumas older twin brother. With this the story really starts. Both of them most survive and return to their own body, but also need to endure the life of bodys owners.

The parts that first of all makes it amusing is the fact that Souma used to be bullied and a nerd, while Kanna was a delinquent. In the eyes of others, it is now like their personalitys has switched places.

These two covers may look like they has the same person, but like some of you understands, the character for them is difrent. At cover nr.5 you can see Kanna and Souma and at nr.7 is once again Sword and Ios.

A Little spoiler :
Later in the serie, both Souma and Kanna gets the cahance to act in their own bodies again. This leads to more exciting and amusing moments. It also makes it more interesting when the evil forces, both from heaven and hell, decides to attack.

Of course this serie doesn’t attract all kinds of people, but for you who like a nice atdventure, like a Shounen Jump adventure, I suggest that you try this serie.
The manga started 1998 but already finished 2000, then with 15 complete volumes.

Student of Japanese

August 29, 2008

Now the first week has passed, so I can finally take the weekend to think through of what has happened.
This week I started my life as a student at Stockholm University, with the course Japanese. The first day, monday, was mostly information, not that much either. The first lesson was on wensday, though that one aswell didn’t give out much, but I guess it is ok to take everything slow in the beginning.
I also guess that I feels that it is slow, since I already am at an higher level than some of the others.

– We will practice Japanese grammar and writing
– speaking.
– calligraphy ( just a bit)
– History
– etc

Yesterday we had a lecture of how the writing system came to. It was interesting, but I got a terrible stomache pain at the beginning, so I had to focus all my energy to hold back the pain.
But, since I had read in the book about it beforehand ( like everyone was told to do ) I could listen and follow what the teacher said.
Next week we will have another lecture about the Heien period, can’t wait for it 😀

This is a picture of the Assembly hall where we have been the most.  Our area in the university is a bit away form the main part, so I take the bus a few minutes to get there.
It is called in swedish “Kräftriket” which means Crayfish kingdom in english.
Other than us japanese students are many students of difrent language and also for some medical.

Behind the assembly hall is this big lake that gives of such a quiescent feeling. When we searched for the main part on the first day, to find the building where we could get our books and such, we walked next to the lake and it was so lovely. We wanted to eat lunch near it yesterday, but it was blowing and sometimes raining, so we skipped that idea and ate in the library instead ^,^

The thing that is most tiring with this student life is all the pendling everyday.
From where I live I take the train for about 40 min.
Then the Commuter train for 20 min into Stockholm.
From there I take the subway, not sure of the minutes and at last the bus trip for a few minutes.
This may not sound much, but you need to think of the time in-between this all.
If I say like this : I leave the house on the morning 6.45, to take the train that goes 6.56 and I just make it in time for the lesson that starts 9.00 . So it becomes a long day -,-
Yesterday, thursday, I left home 7.15 and came home 20.50 ,lol. We had a break before the lecture which ended 17.40, but because of all the pendling I ended up home almost 3 hours later T.T

This Cat…thing was on the other side of the railway in Upplandsväsby (the first stop after the train before we switch to the commuter train ) It changed my mood at that time,  which was stress, tiredness, irritation
Just watching it, you can’t help to smile, ne ^^ let’s call it Neko box of Luv! ❤

But I will just hang in there and continue to study.
I have by my side my dear friend Sara and a dream to master japanese. So I will just fight the things in my way and continue to smile happily, like a warrior, alone  at centrum, walking in circles around a single staty, waiting for the prey to come. The warrior prepear her self to master and destroy the things in her way, so she can fly to the next battlestation in Japan…..
….well, you get the point, I hope o(^.^)o

World Destruction

August 27, 2008

Last night I finally started to watch World Destruction.
The anime is based on a not too old Sega game, which recently also made the way to a DS.

The first episode was a bit slow, since I waited to hear Ono Daisuke’s voice. That is one of the things that made me really interested in this serie when I watched the trailer;  There are so many great seiyus, such as :
Mamoro Miyano :  Setsuna in Gundam 00 & Light in Death Note ect
Hiroyuki Yoshino:  Allelujha in Gundam 00 & Zedo in Kiba ect
Daisuke Ono :  Hyuuga in Neo Angelique & Sora in Air ect
Maaya Sakumoto: Mishima in Rahxephon & Lunamaria in Gundam seed Destiny ect

The secound episode was better than the first, since  Naja ( Silver hair ) finally came + Agan( Red hair ) . Kuma (Guess who 😛 )is also good, since his seiyu is Tohru Furuya ( who is most famous for his role in Gundam and Saint Seiya ) I still find it amazing that his voice still remain the same, even after 30 years in the business as a Seiyu ^^

After watching the screenshots for the game, I really want to play it and I can also assume that the game is much better than the anime ( just like it was with Shining tears X Sword )

Anyway, it is a nice anime for the once who want to relax to an adventure with great Seiyus and good animation. So give it a shot, and watch not only the first episode but the secound two, before you completle decide to not watch it ^^

Slayers Revolution

August 26, 2008

Slayers was the very first serie I ever watched, so for me this serie holds a great place in my heart.
That a new season has come, I still find that fact schocking.

At the very first episode, you will see that the serie is still able to give the viewers a time of joy.
Lina Inverse amuse us as always with her food eating and fast way to terminate anyone who stands in her way, or make a comments about her breast size.
A Man named Wiser is after her, wanting to arrest her just because she is Lina Inverse. And at the top of the dealing with him, Linas precious screen time to use her beloved Dragon Slave , gets taken by a strange animal called Pokota.

Now to the big difrence between this new version 2008, and the old one from 1995. The top pic is from the new, and the one under form the old ( Can’t help using Zelgadis, he is my favorite ^^)

I still like the old slayers more, thoug I have only seen a a mere
4 episodes of Revolution.
But I’m not that found of the new colours, as seen with
Zelgadis hair, for not speaking of Amelias that turned Purple!

And another thing that suprised me was the new effect for the Dragon Slave. It looked kinda weak and more like a big lava bomb, than a weapon of darkness.
Even thoug it may now sound that I’m complaining, I’m doing the opposite. I Luv this serie, so ofcourse I luv the new one as well. I’m just pointing out a few things that is difrent from the originall and that I miss.
But in  fact, I couldn’t be happier to once again watch my favorite serie.

Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn

August 24, 2008

I used most of my day to read up the latest manga chapter and anime episodes.
The manga is still keeping the good feeling, no matter what elements pop ups, but the anime keeps getting worse because of all the bad fillers.
They are just trying to buy time, making small things long, like the conclusion of the last episode and so.
I just don’t get why they didn’t think of this before hand, when they still were in the “real” time. There is still parts of the manga that hasn’t reached the screen.
The best example is the Mafia boss that was in a few chapter a long time ago, around the ” fun chapter” times, before everything started getting serious with nonstop battles.
If it wasn’t because Mukuro came these last episodes, I’m not sure if I would have considerd watching it more, or maybe I would just have skipped the irritating part and watch the rest.
I guess it will be more enyoible when the battle parts come, since they are often less confusing than in the manga.
